She is WONDERFUL!!!

Well, I am here in Guatemala. Johanna is sleeping so I am going to post really quick. I can't put pictures on yet though.

Johanna and her foster mother met us at the airport yesterday. Boy, was that a surprise. She is a very good baby but sometimes looks lost and starts crying. It is so obvious she misses her foster family. She was very close to her foster father so everytime she sees a man she wants him to old her.

Last night she slept all night, 8 to 7 this morning. I didn't sleep. I was awake constantly checking on her. She sleeps on her tummy and often on her face too. I guess she doesn't know about SIDS. She sleeps very still too. I would put my hand on her back but couldn't feel her breathing so I would jiggle her a little to make her move. I know, I have those "first time mom" qualities.

Our embassy appointment was this morning and was long. Johanna got very restless but we made it through. I think we are going to the market after lunch. I'll try to write more later and maybe even get some pictures on.

Congratulations :) It sounds like you girls are doing very well together overall! That is good! I am sorry that Johanna misses her foster family - that is so tough. I hope that the remainder of your trip is great and that you have a safe and wonderful trip home!

So glad you are all together at last! Looking forward to the pics.

p.s. Almost 3 months later, Cara still reaches for any dark haired man she sees!

Oh Yay!!! I am so, so glad to know that you have your daughter with you now.

I am sure she will have a tough time getting used to her new life, but I know you will help her to adjust well and will be such a great mom to her.

Don't get too used to that whole sleeping through the night thing... it just might change on you.

I can't wait to see a photo of her in your arms!

Congratulations!!! I am so happy you are finally togehter!!! I can't wait for the pictures!!

I remember our first week with Olivia we didn't sleep well at all and kept checking to see if she was breathing. It gets easier as time passes, but we didn't mind not watching her all night and I am sure you don't either. Enjoy every minute with her!!

Wow, I am so happy for you!!! I'm sure she'll adjust quickly. Maybe Uncle Lowell and Uncle Pat can fill in some for those male arms (and of course Heath when we are there). I will bring the sleep monitor when we come to visit. Or maybe I'll just stick it in the mail so it is there when you get home. It was such a sanity saver when Samuel started sleeping on his tummy. You can set it to tick so that you literally hear each time she breathes.
